A method and system for off-loading data traffic in a telephone network having an ingress switch switchably connectable to a source of data traffic and a source of voice traffic and having a tandem switch downstream of the ingress switch, so as to re-route the data traffic away from a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) thereby reducing congestion thereon. A digital cross connect based device connected between the ingress and tandem switches allows discrimination between the data traffic and the voice traffic downstream of the ingress switch prior to reaching the tandem switch, and diverts the data traffic to a data network.
Procédé et système servant à décharger un trafic de données dans un réseau téléphonique possédant un commutateur d'entrée pouvant être connecté à une source de trafic de données et à une source de trafic vocal, ainsi qu'un commutateur tandem en aval du commutateur d'entrée, de manière à réacheminer le trafic de données à distance d'un réseau téléphonique commuté public (RTPC), ce qui limite l'encombrement de ce réseau. Un dispositif numérique basé sur une connexion croisée et connecté entre le commutateur d'entrée et le commutateur tandem permet de distinguer le trafic de données et le trafic vocal en aval du commutateur d'entrée avant d'atteindre le commutateur tandem et dévie le trafic vers un réseau de données.
