A method for moving a digital entity such as a character or an object on- screen from a starting point to an end point in a digital world by: providing the position of the obstacles for the digital entity and defining the portion of the digital world without obstacles as reachable space; creating a navigation mesh for digital entity by dividing the reachable space into convex cells; locating the starting and ending cells among the convex cells; if the starting cell corresponds to the ending cell then the digital entity is moved from the starting to the ending point. If the starting cell does not correspond to the end cell determining intermediary points located on the boundary between consecutive cells in a sequence of cells among the convex cells from the starting to the end point and moving the digital entity from the starting point to each consecutive intermediary point to the end point.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de déplacer sur un écran une entité numérique, par exemple un personnage ou un objet, d'un point de départ à un point d'arrivée dans un monde numérique, qui consiste à fournir à l'entité numérique la position des obstacles et à définir la partie du monde numérique sans obstacles comme espace atteignable; à créer un réseau de navigation destiné à l'entité numérique en divisant l'espace atteignable en cellules convexes; à localiser les cellules de départ et d'arrivée parmi les cellules convexes; si la cellule de départ correspond à la cellule d'arrivée, l'entité numérique s'est donc déplacée du point de départ au point d'arrivée. Si la cellule de départ ne correspond pas à la cellule d'arrivée, on détermine alors les points intermédiaires situés à la limite entre des cellules consécutives d'une série de cellules parmi les cellules convexes du point de départ au point d'arrivée et on déplace l'entité numérique du point de départ vers chaque point intermédiaire consécutif jusqu'au point d'arrivée.
