A method and system for parking a domain name. A parking web page is provided which includes either or both a directory and a search engine. Preferably, these components are provided in their entireties by a person other than the domain name owner. Preferably, the number of hits for the parked domain names is tracked and a valuation is determined based thereon. Third party appraisers are also solicited for their appraisals of the domain names and all of these valuations are posted together on the Internet for ready comparison.
