A system and method are provided for adding network entities and appliances to a mobile wireless Internet. A graphical user interface on a user appliance or network entity is used to start a plug and play process. In the plug and play process a temporary EP address is assigned to the entity or appliance. The temporary address is tested for uniqueness. A search mechanism identifies and contacts a plug server that uses information from the user/operator to authenticate the user and/or validate subscription information. Upon authentication or validation the plug server dispatches an inspector agent to determine the software needs of the new entity or appliance. The plug server obtains the requested software from the software inventory and the inspector agent downloads the software onto the new entity or appliance and installs it therein. The element then uses the DRCP/DHCP client to obtain a new IP address. Link layer and topology information are selected and downloaded to the entity or appliance and the unit is plugged into the network for mobile wireless Internet access.
La présente invention a trait à un système et un procédé pour l'addition d'entités de réseau et d'appareils à un Internet sans fil mobile. Une interface graphique sur un appareil d'utilisateur ou entité de réseau est utilisée pour démarrer un processus prêt à tourner. Dans le processus prêt à tourner une adresse IP temporaire est affectée à l'entité ou appareil. L'adresse temporaire est contrôlée pour son caractère unique. Un mécanisme de recherche identifie et communique avec un serveur de connexion qui utilise l'information en provenance de l'utilisateur/opérateur pour l'authentification de l'utilisateur et/ou la validation d'information d'abonnement. Lors de l'authentification ou validation le serveur de connexion envoie un agent d'inspection pour déterminer les besoins logiciels de la nouvelle entité ou du nouvel appareil. Le serveur de connexion obtient le logiciel requis à partir d'un inventaire de logiciel et l'agent d'inspection effectue le téléchargement du logiciel sur la nouvelle entité ou nouvel appareil et son installation. L'élément utilise ensuite le client de protocole de configuration et d'enregistrement dynamique/protocole de communication d'hôte dynamique (DRCP/DHCP) pour l'obtention d'une nouvelle adresse IP. Des données de couche de liaison et de topologie sont sélectionnées et téléchargées vers l'entité ou appareil et l'unité est branchée sur le réseau pour accès à l'Internet sans fil mobile.
