A method and system for increasing compatibility among telecommunications networks using different types of signaling systems. Current location information for a mobile station is stored (54) in a register (24). Subsequently, a telecommunication node attempting to access the mobile station (10) requests (58, 82) current location data from the register. It is determined, however, that the stored location information is incompatible with a signaling system used by the telecommunication node. As a result, a physical address that corresponds to the stored location information is identified (60, 64, 84) as bring compatible with the signaling, system. The identified physical address is then used to perform the access of the mobile station. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the attempted access of the mobile station is for purposes of delivering (66) a short message service (SMS) message. In another embodiment, the attempted access comprises un attempt to set up an international call connection (88).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un système permettant d'augmenter la compatibilité parmi les réseaux de télécommunications utilisant différents types de systèmes de signalisation. Les informations de localisation courantes d'une station mobile sont enregistrées (54) dans un registre (24). En conséquence, un noeud de télécommunication qui tente d'accéder à la station mobile (10), demande (58, 82) les informations de localisation courantes du registre.
