A method and a system including a wheel chock tire abutment device is described for restraining road vehicles transported on a support surface of a transport vehicle. Primary wheel chock devices are secured to the support surface on outward sides of pairs of wheels of each road vehicle adjacent the thread surface of the wheels. A second wheel chock is also secured to the support surface an approximate predetermined distance spaced adjacent the thread face on inward sides of front and rear pairs of wheels of the vehicle. When the road vehicles are subjected to an impact force, from either a front or rear direction, kinetic energy from the impacted vehicle is absorbed and dissipated softly in a sequential manner by contact of the tires of one of the front and rear pairs of wheels against an arresting surface of the primary wheel chocks and (b) by the tires of the other pair of wheels contacting the arresting surface of the second wheel chocks.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système comprenant une butée de pneu de cale de roue permettant d'immobiliser des véhicules routiers transportés sur une surface de support d'un véhicule de transport. L'invention concerne des dispositifs de cale de roues primaires fixés sur la surface de support des côtés extérieurs de paires de roues de chaque véhicule routier, adjacents à la surface de la bande de roulement des roues. Une seconde cale de roue est également fixée sur la surface de support à une distance prédéterminée approximative, de manière séparée mais adjacente à la face de la bande de roulement, sur les côtés intérieurs de la paire avant et de la paire arrière de roues du véhicule. Lorsque les véhicules routiers sont soumis à une force d'impact, provenant soit d'une direction avant ou d'une direction arrière, l'énergie cinétique provenant du véhicule ayant subi le choc est doucement absorbée et dissipée, de manière séquentielle, par la mise en contact des pneus d'une des paires de roue avant et arrière, avec une surface d'arrêt des cales de roue primaires et b) par la mise en contact des pneus de l'autre paire de roues avec la surface d'arrêt des secondes cales de roues.
