A method and apparatus applies a variety of session based watermarks in real- time to content that is streamed from a server towards a client. The invention employs content where differing targeted portions are selectively encrypted, such that other portions remain in the clear (unencrypted). Session information, such as an intended client, end-user, operator of a content server, content owner, and the like, may be used to generate the various watermarks. The watermarks may also be digitally signed and/or encrypted. The watermarks may be applied to the portions of the clear content as the content is streamed towards the client. In one embodiment, a bridge server is configured to modify packets of streaming media data files with the variety of watermarks. In another embodiment, the content server for the streaming media data includes a plug-in component that dynamically modifies the packets of streaming media data files with the variety of watermarks.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant d'apposer en temps réel divers filigranes, en fonction de la session, sur un contenu diffusé en continu auprès d'un client depuis un serveur. Ladite invention fait appel à un contenu dans lequel des parties ciblées différentes sont cryptées sélectivement, de sorte que d'autres parties demeurent en clair (non cryptées). Des informations de session relatives au destinataire, par exemple le client, l'utilisateur final, l'exploitant d'un serveur de contenu, le propriétaire du contenu, et analogue, peuvent être utilisées pour générer les divers filigranes. Ces filigranes peuvent également consister en une signature numérique et/ou être cryptés. Ils peuvent être apposés sur les parties en clair du contenu à mesure que celui-ci est diffusé en continu auprès du client. Dans un mode de réalisation, un serveur passerelle est configuré pour modifier, au moyen des divers filigranes, des paquets de fichiers de données de médias en continu. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, le serveur de contenu pour les données de médias en continu comporte un composant enfichable assurant la modification dynamique, au moyen des divers filigranes, des paquets de fichiers de données de médias en continu.
