A method is provided for shutting down an internal combustion engine (12) in a hybrid vehicle that includes a motor (30) and a generator (32) operatively connected to an engine crankshaft (21). The method includes the steps of reducing compression in at least one engine cylinder and operating the motor (30) or generator (32) to influence motion of the engine crankshaft (21) during engine shutdown to attenuate oscillations in and expedite reduction of engine crankshaft speed. A system for shutting down a hybrid vehicle internal combustion engine (12) is also provided.
L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à arrêter un moteur à combustion interne (12) d'un véhicule hybride qui comporte un moteur (30) et un générateur (32) reliés fonctionnels à un vilebrequin de moteur (21). Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à réduire la compression dans au moins un cylindre de moteur et à mettre en route le moteur (30) ou le générateur (32) afin d'influencer le mouvement du vilebrequin de moteur (21) durant l'arrêt du moteur afin d'atténuer les oscillations et accélérer la réduction de vitesse du vilebrequin de moteur. L'invention concerne également un système destiné à arrêter un moteur à combustion interne de véhicule hybride (12).
