The present invention relates to a method and system for the identification of a marking device. The invention is based on utilizing encryption of information and a biometric sample taken of the person. By this method, a marking device can be effectively and reliably identified. In practice, double verification of the authenticity of the owner of the marking device is achieved by the method and system of the invention. The first verification consists in that the owner must know a password for a key used for encrypting the information stored in the marking device, and the second verification consists in that a biometric sample taken of the person must be consistent with biometric sample code stored in the marking device or with information derived from it.

Cette invention a trait à un procédé et à un appareil d'identification de marquage de sécurité. On utilise, dans le cadre de cette invention, le chiffrement de l'information et un échantillon biométrique prélevé sur une personne. Ce procédé permet d'identifier de manière satisfaisante et en toute fiabilité un dispositif de marquage. Ce procédé et l'appareil correspondant permettent de procéder à une double vérification de l'identité du propriétaire du dispositif de marquage. La première vérification repose sur le fait que le propriétaire doit connaître le mot de passe d'une clef utilisée pour le chiffrement de l'information stockée dans le dispositif de marquage et la seconde repose sur le fait que l'échantillon biométrique prélevé sur la personne doit correspondre à un code d'échantillon biométrique stocké dans le dispositif de marquage ou à une information dérivée de ce code.
