A method and system for preparing hierarchical textual file (e.g. 250) for storage in a relational database (e.g. 108 or 126) allows the user to use readily available commands for querying and manipulating stored in a relational database. A generally tabular data structure contains data attribute fields associated with corresponding data element fields (S10). A hierarchical textual file is accepted containing structured data elements (S12). The data attributes are determined (S14). The data attributes are associated with corresponding structured data elements of the accepted hierarchical textual file (S14). The determined data attributes are stored in the generally tabular data structure of the relational database (S16).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un système de préparation de fichier texte hiérarchique (par ex. 250) aux fins de stockage dans une base de données relationnelle (par ex. 108 ou 126) permettant à l'utilisateur d'utiliser facilement des commandes disponibles pour interroger et manipuler stockées dans une base de données relationnelle. Une structure de données en forme générale de tableau renferme des champs d'attributs de données associés à des champs d'éléments de données correspondants (S10). Un fichier texte hiérarchique comprenant des éléments de données structurés est accepté (S12). Les attributs de données sont déterminés (S14) et associés aux éléments de données structurés correspondants du fichier texte hiérarchique accepté (S14). Les attributs de données déterminés sont stockés dans la structure de donnée en forme générale de tableau de la base de données relationnelle. (S16).
