A method and system for digitally signing an electronic contract document. An electronic communication contains an identifier, a message, which includes the document, and a digital signature generated with a private key of an asymmetric key pair (247). The identifier may be used to retrieve a corresponding public key (287) and account information pertaining to the sender of the message. The public key may be used to authenticate the sender and the message. A device containing the private key may be used to protect the privacy thereof. The device may also generate a verification status indicator corresponding to verification data input into the device. The indicator may also be used as evidence that the sender of a contract document performed an overt act in causing the electronic communication to be digitally signed. A security profile linked to the public key in a secure database indicates security characteristics of the device.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un système destinés à signer numériquement un document de contrat électronique. Une communication électronique contient un identificateur, un message, qui comprend le document, et une signature numérique produite à l'aide d'une clé privée et d'une paire de clés asymétriques (247). L'identificateur peut être utilisé afin de récupérer une clé publique correspondante (287) et une information de compte se rapportant à l'expéditeur du message. La clé publique peut être utilisée afin d'authentifier l'expéditeur et le message. Il est possible d'utiliser un dispositif contenant la clé privée afin de protéger le domaine privé. Le dispositif peut aussi générer un indicateur d'état de vérification correspondant aux données de vérification entrées dans le dispositif. On peut aussi utiliser l'indicateur comme évidence que l'expéditeur d'un document de contrat a réalisé un acte explicite en signant numériquement la communication électronique. Un profil de sécurité relié à la clé publique dans une base de données sécurisée indique les caractéristiques de sécurité du dispositif.
