A mechanism is disclosed for controlling capacity in a communication system (12), based on zones (16) in which subscribers (A) are located. When a subscriber seeks to establish a communication session among multiple subscribers, a determination is made as to whether more than a threshold number of the subscribers are located in a common zone. If so, the excess subscribers in that zone are excluded from participating in the session.

Cette invention se rapporte à un mécanisme qui permet de commander la capacité d'un système de communication (12) en se basant sur les zones (16) dans lesquelles sont situés les abonnés (A). Lorsqu'un abonné cherche à établir une session de communication entre plusieurs abonnés, ce mécanisme détermine si le nombre des abonnés situés dans une zone commune est supérieur à un nombre seuil. Si c'est le cas, les abonnés excédentaires de cette zone sont exclus de la participation à cette session.
