A non-explosive rock breaking method is disclosed. The method is accomplished by first drilling a hole into a rock. A charging system (22) is then positioned adjacent the hole (12) and a propellant cartridge (14) is inserted within the charging system (22). The propellant cartridge (14) contains a propellant (36', 36") and means for igniting the propellant. Finally, the propellant cartridge (14) is forced through the charging system (22) and into the hole to ignite the propellant (36', 36"). A cartridge and apparatus for performing the method are also disclosed.
L'invention concerne un procédé non-explosif de fragmentation de roches, qui consiste à percer un trou dans une roche et, en position adjacente à ce trou (12), à placer ensuite un système de chargement (22) dans lequel on introduit une cartouche de poudre propulsive (14). Ladite cartouche (14) renferme une poudre propulsive (36', 36") et une amorce pour l'allumage de la poudre propulsive. Enfin, la cartouche de poudre propulsive (14) est poussée dans le système de chargement (22) puis dans le trou pour permettre l'allumage de la charge propulsive (36', 36"). On décrit par ailleurs une cartouche et un dispositif propre à la mise en oeuvre du procédé.
