A tumbler (14) is mounted for ro-tation around a trunnion (30) with a screen (20) fixedly mounted to a portion of the trunnion (30) residing within the tumbler (14). A multiple blade paddle (24) is mounted to a shaft (26) that is rotatably supported through the trunnion (30). The paddle (24) blades are formed with angular edges. As the tumbler (14) rotates and the paddle (24) rotates, powder (P) is repeatedly dropped onto the screen (20) to be sifted with the aid of the paddle (24). Rotating the tumbler (14) fur-ther drops unsifted portions of the powder (P) out of the screen (20) to mix with additional powder (P) in the tumbler (14) body. Thus, sift-ing and blending of powders is accomplished in one single operation.
L'invention concerne un mélangeur à tambour (14) monté de manière à tourner autour d'un tourillon (30) muni d'un tamis (20) monté fixement sur une partie du tourillon (30) situé dans le mélangeur à tambour (14). Un agitateur à multiples pales (24) est monté sur un arbre (26) soutenu en rotation par le tourillon (30). Les pales de l'agitateur (24) présentent des bords angulaires. Lorsque le mélangeur à tambour (14) et l'agitateur (24) tournent, la poudre (P) tombe de manière répétée sur le tamis (20) afin d'être tamisée à l'aide de l'agitateur (24). En tournant davantage, le mélangeur à tambour (14) permet de faire tomber des parties non tamisées de la poudre (P) du tamis (20) destinées à être mélangées à de la poudre supplémentaire (P) dans le corps du mélangeur à tambour (14). Ainsi, le tamisage et le mélange des poudres sont réalisés en une seule opération.
