IMPROVED METHOD FOR ANALYSIS OF ENDOTOXIN- PRECIPITATED LIMULUS LYSATE Inventor: Rajiva Nandan ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for quantitatively determining the concentra- tion of bacterial endotoxin in various materials has been developed. This method comprises adding to the test material a purified, standardized solution of Limulus amoebocyte lysate, and thereafter measuring photometrically the amount of pre- cipitated protein. The degree of protein precipitation is directly dependent upon the concentration of endotoxin and concentration of precipitable protein in the amoebocyte lysate.
