The power tool comprises a servomotor, a torque converter and a control assembly that includes a power supply for converting AC to low voltage DC, a drive controller for firstly converting the AC from one phase to three and, secondly, for delivering the latter to the servomotor, a controls apparatus for detecting signals and data to and from the servomotor / torque converter, and also from the drive controller, and a serial communication port for connecting the drive controller to a computer for uploading and downloading data and software/firmware, which computer is used for programming, calibrating and retrieving data incorporated in the memory. The method is based on the fact that the current in the servomotor increases gradually until the converter reaches a preset torque that is programmed to correspond to a specific current that is continuously detected and compared to the current supplied to the servomotor.
