In order to bundle an object (10) with a string-like bundling means (2), a clamping block (1) for the bundling means (2) is used that, by means of gripping elements (11, 12), holds the end areas of the bundling means in separate clamping areas (5, 6). This enables the end areas to be quickly and easily fixed to one another or the encircling to be completed. A preferred use involves bundling empty PET bottles that have been compacted into bundles.
