The present invention is directed to a method for calibrating ultrasound equipment and ultrasound contrast agents is provided that utilizes polystyrene microspheres as a broadband in vitro calibration tool. In accordance with the method a suspension of polystyrene microspheres are provided in a liquid environment in a container having an acoustic aperture. The suspension of microspheres is continuously agitated during measurement of the backscatter from the suspension of microspheres and the ultrasound equipment or contrast agent is then calibrated or adjusted to a selected backscatter setting.
L'invention porte sur un procédé d'étalonnage d'équipements de diagnostic et d'agents de contraste par ultrasons utilisant des microsphères de polystyrène comme outils d'étalonnage in vitro. Ledit procédé consiste à placer dans un récipient présentant une ouverture acoustique une suspension de microsphères de polystyrène dans un milieu liquide. La suspension de microsphères est continuellement agitée pendant la mesure de la rétrodiffusion sur les microsphères, tandis que l'équipement de diagnostic et l'agent de contraste par ultrasons sont étalonnés ou ajustés sur un réglage de la rétrodiffusion.
