The present invention relates to a method for conferring herbicide, pest, and disease resistance in plant hosts. Specifically, the present invention employs transient viral expression vectors to express proteins or enzymes conferring resistance in plant hosts. In addition, expressing a library of nucleotide sequence variants in a sense or antisense orientation in a plant host may be used to determine the targets of a herbicide or pathogen and to determine new herbicides or pathogens.

La présente invention concerne un procédé qui permet de conférer à des plantes hôtes, une résistance aux herbicides, aux parasites et aux maladies. De manière plus spécifique, la présente invention implique l'utilisation de vecteurs d'expression de virus transitoires pour exprimer des protéines ou des enzymes qui confèrent, à des plantes hôtes, une résistance. De plus, l'expression d'une banque de variants de séquences nucléotidiques dans une orientation codante ou non codante dans une plante hôte peut être utilisée pour déterminer les cibles d'un herbicide ou d'un pathogène et pour déterminer de nouveaux herbicides ou de nouveaux pathogènes.
