An apparatus for delivering electrostatically charged particles to a carpet or fabric material is provided for controlling and removing dust from the material. The apparatus comprises a container for storing particles which are to be electrostatically charged and a tube or pipe for delivering the particles from the container to the carpet or fabric material. A source of compressed air or vacuum is provided for expelling particles at high velocity from the container to the carpet or fabric material. The tube or pipe is made of a material such that a minimum charge to mass ratio of ~1 × 10 -4C/kg is imparted to the particles by frictional contact on the inside of the tube or pipe when the particles are passed down the delivery tube or pipe at high velocity.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de combattre et d'éliminer la poussière et autres particules fines déposées sur un matériau. Il comprend les étapes suivantes: i) soumettre des particules porteuses sous forme de poudre à une charge électrostatique pour conférer auxdites particules un rapport charge/masse minimum de +/- 1x10<-4>C/Kg, ii) acheminer les particules porteuses chargées en électricité statique vers le matériau, ce qui permet à la poussière et aux autres particules fines déposées sur le matériau de s'agglomérer aux particules porteuses chargées en électricité statique, et iii) éliminer les agglomérats obtenus du matériau (par exemple, par aspiration ou brossage). L'invention concerne également un appareil destiné à acheminer des particules chargées en électricité statique sur un matériau. Cet appareil comprend: a) un récipient, dans lequel sont contenues les particules chargées en électricité statique, b) des moyens permettant d'acheminer les particules du récipient vers le tapis ou tout autre tissu qui se composent i) d'un tube ou tuyau destiné à acheminer les particules porteuses vers le tapis ou tout autre tissu fin et ii) de dispositifs permettant d'expulser à grande vitesse les particules du récipient au matériau. Le tube ou le tuyau sont fabriqués en une matière telle que, lorsque les particules porteuses tombent du tube d'amenée à grande vitesse, elles se voient conférer un rapport charge/masse minimum de +/- 1x10<-4>C/Kg par friction des particules sur la paroi intérieure du tube ou du tuyau.
