ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel methods for controlling pests are provided herein. The methods comprises applying to a locus infested with algae, fungi, larva nematodes, and/or herbivorous invertebrates, etc., a composition comprising an inert carrier and a biocidal-amount of a naturally-occurring conjugated polyacetylene, and subjecting such locus to UV radiation in the amount of 300 nm to 400 nm, for a sufficient time to impart, to the naturally-oc- curring conjugated polyacetylenes such algicidal, fungicidal, larvacidal, nematocidal ard/or herbivorous invertibratical activity.
