The inventions related to power generation. A method includes feeding a fuel and a compressed gaseous oxidant which is a mixture of oxygen with carbon dioxide at the oxygen concentration of essentially 21 percent, into a combustion chamber of a gas turbine (combined cycle) power plant, burning the fuel at the oxidant excess factor maintained in the burning zone within the range from 1.05 to 1.15 percent, the oxygen being obtained by separating air into oxygen and nitrogen, and the carbon dioxide being extracted from turbine exhaust gases. A gas turbine (combined cycle) power plant comprises a combustion chamber (9), a compressor (6), a gas turbine (11) and a steam generator (14) or a waste heat boiler and a contact economizer (15) for cooling below the condensation point. The power plant further comprises an air separation unit (1) and a blending chamber (5). The invention ensures the substantially reduced detrimental emissions of nitrogen oxides, and the increased carbon dioxide concentration in the combustion products which makes the recovery of carbon dioxide economically profitable.
