The invention relates to a method for converting thermal energy into mechanical work, whereby a first (4) and a second means (9) for storing thermal energy are alternately connected into a turbine branch (T). In order to increase the efficiency of this method, the invention provides that a compressed oxidizing gas (11) is cooled to a second temperature T2 before passing through the first means (4) for storing thermal energy, and the oxidizing gas is then increased, in one step, to a third temperature T3 when passing through the first means (4) for storing thermal energy.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de convertir de l'énergie thermique en travail mécanique, selon lequel un premier élément (4) et un second élément (9) pour accumuler de l'énergie thermique sont enclenchées en alternance dans une branche de turbine (T). Afin de renforcer l'efficacité dudit procédé, il est prévu de refroidir un gaz comprimé (11) à effet oxydant avant de le faire passer par le premier élément (4) pour accumuler l'énergie thermique, afin qu'il atteigne une deuxième température (T2), puis de le porter en une étape à une troisième température (T3) lors du passage à travers le premier élément (4) pour accumuler de l'énergie thermique.
