Method for Cyclic Operation of Reactors Abstract The invention relates to a method for cyclic operation of at least two reactors, with at least one catalytic reaction taking place in reactors traversed by a raw gas stream, in which reactors a liquid and/or solid reaction product is deposited. The reactors are traversed sequentially in the flow direction and operated at different temperatures. Following a shift to a subsequent cycle, the reactor that was traversed first in the previous cycle is traversed last in this subsequent cycle. Each reactor is operated at a temperature at which the other reactor was operated in the previous cycle. According to the invention, in the end phase of a cycle, precooling of one reactor and/or preheating of the second reactor is performed before the sequence in which the reactors are traversed is reversed to change the cycle. Precooling or preheating prior to changing the cycle in the reactors can be accomplished by mixing a cooling/heating medium into the raw gas stream (especially in adiabatically-operated catalyst beds) and/or by means of cooling/heating coils in the reactors (especially in quasi-isothermally operated reactors). The method according to the invention offers special advantages for desulfuration of raw gas stream containing at least H2S and possibly SO2, COS, and/or CS2, by catalytic conversion of H2S with SO2 and/or O2 into elementary sulfur and water, and possibly by hydrolysis of COS and/or CS2.
