The invention relates to a communications system in which communications terminals (KE1, ..., KEn) are connected to a packet-based communications network (ATM-KN) via at least one transfer unit (ATM-HUB) and an exchange (PBX). To carry out a data transmission between the exchange (PBX) and the communications terminals (KE1, ..., Ken), a time-slot-oriented data format (IOM-2) consisting of a periodic sequence of channel-individual information segments (B1, B2, M, DI, C) is provided for. To this end information segments (DI) intended for the transmission of signaling information and information segments (B1, B2, M, C) intended for the transmission of user data information are transmitted in separate data packets (ATMZ) intended for a data transmission via the packet-oriented communications network (ATM-KN).

L'invention concerne un système de communication dans lequel des terminaux de communication (KE1, ...,KEn) sont reliés par l'intermédiaire d'une unité de transfert (ATM-HUB) et un central (PBX) à un réseau de communication fondé sur des paquets.
