The present invention relates to a method for the decontamination of soils polluted by metal elements, the method comprising a step for leaching the soils polluted in a basic medium so as to cause the selective dissolution of the metal elements to be eliminated, and a cementing step causing the precipitation of said metal elements by electrochemical exchange with zinc powder which is at least partly produced by electrolysis of the solution obtained from the cementation step.
