A method for delignifying and bleaching a lignocellulose material, wherein an aqueous solution of a redox catalyst and an oxidant is reacted with said material. Said catalyst comprises an organometallic cation of general formula (VII): ((l)Mno2Mn(L))n+, wherein Mn is manganese (III) or (IV) oxide, the two Mn's of this cation may form a pair in a III-III, III-IV or IV-IV oxidative state, n is 2, 3 or 4, O is oxygen, and L is a ligand comprising 4 nitrogen atoms co-ordinating the manganese.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de délignification et de blanchiment d'une matière lignocellulosique dans le- quel on fait réagir une solution aqueuse d'un catalyseur redox et d'un oxydant sur ladite matière, et qui se caractérise en ce que ledit catalyseur comporte un cation organométallique de formule générale (VII): [(L)MnO2Mn(L)]n+, dans laquelle: Mn repré- sente le manganèse dans un état d'oxydation III ou IV, les deux Mn de ce cation pouvant former un couple d'état d'oxyda- tion III-III ou III-IV ou IV-IV, n vaut 2, 3 ou 4, O représentant l'oxygène, L est un ligand comportant 4 atomes d'azote co- ordinant le manganèse.
