ABSTRACT A method and apparatus used in the assembly and disassembly of temporary structures required during construction projects. The apparatus includes a connector element which comprises an elongated channel member having a central groove and substantially flat coplanar flanges along the opposed sides of the groove. The flanges are provided with integral spikes and/or holes for accepting driven fasteners. The other component of the apparatus is an inflatable tube which is sized to be accommodated in the central groove or channel and is preferably substantially the same length as the connector element. In use, the connector element is used to attach together a series of boards or sheets of material suitable for use with driven fasteners. Concrete forms, barriers and the like are particularly suitable temporary structures for assembly and disassembly in accordance with the invention. When the temporary structure has served its purpose and is to be disassembled, a pressurized fluid is injected into the inflatable tube which forces the elongated connector away from the building components, thus pulling out the driven fasteners and effecting disassembly of the structure in a very short period of time.
