ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Injection-desulfurization of a molten iron is carried out at a lower cost by using, as a desulfurizing agent, powdered CaCO3 obtained by pulverizing limestone. This injection- desulfurization also can be attained by using as the desulfurizing agent, a powdery mixture in which a main ingredient is said powdered calcium carbonate and which has added thereto: (a) not more than 30% by weight of powdered quicklime, or (b) 5 ? 20% by weight of a carbonaceous material and 2 ? 15% by weight of at least one of halides of alkali and alkaline earth metals, or (c) 5 ? 20% by weight of a carbonaceous material, 2 ? 15% by weight of at least one of halides of alkali and alkaline earth metals and not more than 30% by weight of powdered quicklime.
