L'invention concerne un procédé pour détecter la qualité ou la quantité d'un composant de type additif pour carburant, ce composant faisant partie d'un analyte qui contient du carburant et/ou d'autres composants de type additifs pour carburant. Ce procédé consiste à mettre l'analyte en contact avec un indicateur, et à déterminer la modification des propriétés chromatiques de l'indicateur qui sont provoquées par l'interaction entre le composant de type additif pour carburant et l'indicateur.
