POSITION DETECTOR FOR A STEPPING MOTOR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a feed arrangement enabling the detection of the rotor position of a stepping motor in rela- tion to polarity of the motor pulses and to apply a series of long duration pulses should the polarity be considered to be wrong. The detector includes means for sampling the induced voltage generated by the motor at a predetermined moment, the motor being then open circuited, comparing said voltage with a reference signal and using the result of the comparison to determine whether or not the long duration pulses should be applied to the motor. The arrangement is distinguishable from other inventions by the fact that one bases the detection of the rotor stepping not through detecting whether or not the rotor has stepped or whether the load has varied but on the polarity of the rotor pulse relative to the position of the rotor. The proposed arrangement is very reliable since the difference between the induced voltage produced by a correct pulse and the voltage produced by an incorrect pulse is very large. The invention is intended for use with micromotors as used in timepieces.
