The invention concerns in particular a method for detecting superantigen activity in a biological sample, which consists in: demonstrating a majority spread rate of lymphocytes bearing a V.beta. 16 and/or V.beta.17 determinant or a majority loss rate of lymphocytes bearing a V.beta.16 determinant and a method for detecting a pathological condition in a biological sample which consists in demonstrating at least one of the following parameters: a superantigen activity; a stimulation of the production of cytokines such as IL-6 and INF-.gamma.; induced cell apoptosis.
L'invention concerne notamment un procédé de détection d'une activité superantigénique dans un échantillon biologique, comprenant la mise en évidence d'une expansion majoritaire de lymphocytes porteurs d'un déterminant V.beta.16 et/ou V.beta.17 ou une perte majoritaire de lymphocytes porteurs d'un déterminant V.beta.16 et un procédé de détection d'un état pathologique dans un échantillon biologique selon lequel on met en évidence au moins l'un des paramètres suivants: une activité superantigénique, une stimulation de la production de cytokines, telles que l'IL-6 et INF-.gamma. une induction d'apoptose cellulaire.
