The present invention relates to variants in the catalase gene. The invention provides a method of identifying subject's susceptibility or predisposition to or risk of developing cancer, cancer death, CHD, and/or cerebrovascular stroke by detecting gene polymorphisms and other gene mutations in a biological sample from the subject. The invention also relates to a test kit and software for accomplishing the method. In addition, the invention provides a method for treating or preventing a human or animal suffering from cancer, CHD or cerebrovascular stroke, said method comprising a therapy enhancing catalase availability, production or concentration of the human subject or animal.
La présente invention se rapporte à des variantes du gène de la catalase. L'invention a trait à un procédé permettant d'identifier la réceptivité ou la prédisposition d'un sujet au cancer, au décès par cancer, à la coronaropathie, et/ou à l'accident vasculaire cérébral, par la détection des polymorphismes génétiques et d'autres mutations génétiques dans un échantillon biologique prélevé auprès d'un sujet. L'invention a également trait à un kit d'essai et à un logiciel permettant de mettre en oeuvre le procédé selon l'invention. En outre, l'invention concerne une méthode permettant de traiter ou de prévenir un cancer, une coronaropathie ou un accident vasculaire cérébral chez un être humain ou un animal, ladite méthode consistant en un traitement améliorant la disponibilité, la production ou la concentration de la catalase chez ledit être humain ou animal.
