The invention relates to a method and device for the determination of the formation factor for subterranean regions from bore cuttings. The device comprises a cell (1), connected to a device for the measurement of the electrical conductivity of the cell along with the contents thereof. The cell containing the bore cuttings is filled with a first electrolyte solution (A), of known conductivity (s ¿<i>A</i>?). After saturation of the bore cuttings with the first solution (A), the global electrical conductivity (s*¿<i>A</i>?) of the cell and the contents thereof is determined. After removal of the first solution (A), the cell containing the bore cuttings is filled with a second electrolyte solution (B) of known conductivity (s ¿<i>B</i>?) and the global electrical conductivity (s*¿<i>B</i>?) of the cell containing the second solution and the bore cuttings saturated with the first solution, is determined. The formation factor (FF) for the bore cuttings is derived by combination of the measures. The above is of application to the petrophysical characterisation of deposits.

Méthode et dispositif pour évaluer le facteur de formation de zones souterraines à partir de déblais de forage. Le dispositif comprend une cellule (1) associée à un appareil de mesure de la conductivité électrique de la cellule avec son contenu. On remplit la cellule contenant les déblais de forage avec une première solution électrolytique (A) de conductivité connue (.sigma. A). Après saturation des déblais de forage par la première solution (A), on détermine la conductivité électrique globale (.sigma.*A) de la cellule avec son contenu. Après évacuation de la première solution (A), on remplit la cellule contenant les déblais de forage avec une seconde solution électrolytique (B) de conductivité connue (.sigma. B), et on détermine la conductivité électrique globale (.sigma.*B) de la cellule contenant la seconde solution ainsi que les déblais saturés par la première solution. On en déduit le facteur de formation (FF) des déblais par combinaison des mesures. Applications à la caractérisation pétrophysique de réservoirs.
