A method for determining a biomechanical property of a feed, the method comprising the steps of: (a) subjecting the feed to infrared radiation to obtain spectral data; and (b) using the spectral data to determine the biomechanical property; whereby, the biomechanical property of the feed is determined on the basis of the bond energies of the chemical constituents of the feed.

Cette invention concerne un procédé d'évaluation des caractéristiques biomécaniques d'aliments pour animaux qui consiste à (a) soumettre un aliment à un rayonnement infrarouge afin d'acquérir des données spectrales et (b) utiliser ces données spectrales pour évaluer les caractéristiques biomécaniques. Selon ce procédé, les caractéristiques biomécaniques de l'aliment sont évaluées en fonction des énergies de liaison des constituants chimiques dudit aliment.
