A method to assess the level of folate in a biological sample comprises: providing said sample with glycine N-methyltransferase (GMT) and with an excess of S-adenosyl methionine (SAM) and of glycine; providing a control which contains no folate with said GMT and excess SAM and glycine in comparable amounts to those provided to the sample; and comparing the concentration of at least one product formed in the sample with the concentrations of said product formed in the control, whereby the difference in levels of said product in the sample as compared to the control is directly proportional to the level of folate in the sample.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé servant à évaluer le niveau de folate contenu dans un échantillon biologique. Ce procédé consiste: à ajouter à cet échantillon de la glycine-N-méthytransférase (GMT) et un excédent de S-adénosyl-méthionine (SAM) et de glycine; à ajouter à un échantillon témoin qui ne contient pas de folate cette même enzyme GMT et un excédent de SAM et de glycine en quantités comparables à celles ajoutées à l'échantillon biologique; et à comparer la concentration d'au moins un produit formé dans l'échantillon biologique avec les concentrations de ce même produit formé dans l'échantillon témoin, la différence entre le niveau de ce produit dans l'échantillon biologique et le niveau de ce même produit dans l'échantillon témoin est directement proportionnelle au niveau de folate contenu dans l'échantillon biologique. Cette invention se rapporte également à un procédé permettant de détecter et de mesurer la concentration d'analytes pouvant être soumis à des protocoles générant du peroxyde d'hydrogène. Ce procédé consiste à mesurer le niveau de peroxyde d'hydrogène en ajoutant du peroxydase et une dialkyle-phénylène-diamine.
