A method for determining the position of impacts on an object comprising two acoustic sensors, and N active areas of said object, comprises the steps of: (a) receiving two acoustic signals S 1 (t) and S 2 (t);(b) calculating a sample signature function SIG S (.omega.) = S 1 (.omega.)- S 2 (.omega.) * ,where S 1 (.omega.)and S 2 (.omega.)are the respective Fourier transforms of S 1 (t)and S2(t) , (c) comparing SIG S (.omega.)with N predetermined reference signature functions SIG R, (.omega.)corresponding to the predetermined area j for j from 1 to N; (d) determining the active area in which the impact occurred, on the basis of the comparison of step (c).

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de déterminer la positions des impacts sur un objet comprenant deux capteurs acoustiques et N zones actives dudit objet. Ce procédé consiste : (a) à recevoir deux signaux acoustiques S1(t) et S2(t) ; (b) à calculer une fonction de signature d'échantillon SIGS (?) = S1 (?)- S2 (?)*, où S1(?) et S2 (?) représentent les transformées de Fourier respectives de S1(t) et S2(t) ; (c) à comparer SIGS(?) avec N fonctions de signature de référence prédéterminées SIGR,(?) correspondant à la zone prédéterminée j pour j de 1 à N ; (d) à déterminer la zone active dans laquelle l'impact s'est produit sur la base de la comparaison de l'étape (c).
