A method for dispensing discrete length reinforcement fibers (14). A continuous length of a reinforcement fiber (30) is wound around a base end (36) of a form (34), the base end (36) having a generally circular cross- section, to form generally circular coils (38). The coils (38) are moved axially from the base end (36) of the form (34) to an elongated portion (62) of the form (34), the elongated portion (62) having an elongated cross- section, to change the shape of the coils (38) from the generally circular shape to an elongated shape. The elongated coils (38) are cut to form discrete length reinforcement fibers (14). The discrete length reinforcement fibers (14) are then dispensed.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de distribuer des fibres de renfort (14) de longueur spécifique. Ce procédé consiste tout d'abord à enrouler une longueur continue d'une fibre de renfort (30) autour de l'extrémité support (36) d'une forme (34), cette extrémité support (36) présentant une section transversale généralement circulaire permettant de former des enroulements (38) habituellement circulaires. Puis ce procédé consiste à déplacer axialement ces enroulements (38) depuis ladite extrémité support (36) de la forme (34) en direction d'une partie allongée (62) de cette forme (34), cette partie allongée (62) présentant une section transversale allongée permettant de modifier la forme généralement circulaire des enroulements (38) en une forme allongée. Ce procédé consiste ensuite à couper ces enroulements allongés (38) pour former plusieurs fibres de renfort (14) de longueur spécifique, et enfin à distribuer ces fibres de renfort (14) de longueur spécifique.
