Abstract of the Disclosure A method for driving a light scanning apparatus having a drive means which drives a scanning unit in res- ponse to input signals. The cycle of scanning is divided into a plurality of periods. Drive signals of different levels are supplied to the drive means during said periods, respectively so as to permit a linear scan at higher fre- quencies than would otherwise be possible relative to the resonant frequency of the apparatus.
