In a liquid crystal display device combining a nematic liquid crystal confined between two electrodes with polarizing plates, a voltage applied between two electrodes to drive the nematic liquid crystal is maintained in a predetermined value for a predetermined duration of time in predetermined intervals to increase the response speed and to realize color images by tricolor back-lighting or moving images equivalent to or more excellent than those by CRT displays.

Dans un dispositif afficheur à cristaux liquides combinant un cristal liquide nématique, confiné entre deux électrodes, à des plaques de polarisation, une tension, appliquée entre deux électrodes en vue d'entraîner le cristal liquide nématique, est maintenue à une valeur prédéterminée pour une période de temps prédéterminée à des intervalles prédéterminés de façon à augmenter la vitesse de réponse et à produire des images en couleur par un écran tricolore éclairé par l'arrière ou des images en mouvement équivalentes ou supérieures à celles des écrans cathodiques.
