The present invention relates to a method for drying wood in a compartment kiln, the wood during an initial drying phase on one hand being supplied with heat and on the other hand being subjected to an air change. The present invention may be used in all types of compartment kilns that use air change. From an energy saving aspect an optimum effect is present in compartment kilns having a combination of air change and condensation where the inlet air is supplied through a condensation panel, the water in the circulating drying air condensate on the surface of the condensation panel simultaneously as the inlet air is heated before its entry in the chamber. Of course the invention is also applicable in connection with compartment kilns having only air change. It is significant of the method according to the present invention that during a subsequent phase of the drying the wood is subjected to periods of hard drying, that during these periods of hard drying air change is effected, and that between the periods of hard drying the wood is subjected to periods of less hard drying having essentially less air change.
L'invention concerne un procédé de séchage du bois dans un séchoir à cases, dans lequel le bois est d'une part exposé à de la chaleur au cours d'une phase initiale de séchage, d'autre part soumis à renouvellement de l'air. Cette invention s'applique à tous les séchoirs à cases à renouvellement d'air. Sous l'angle des économies d'énergie, on obtient un effet optimum dans les séchoirs à cases avec renouvellement de l'air et déshydratation combinés, dans lesquels l'air d'admission traverse un panneau de condensation, l'eau présente dans l'air de séchage qui circule se condense à la surface du panneau de condensation en même temps qu'il est chauffé avant de pénétrer dans la chambre. Il va de soit que l'invention s'applique également aux séchoirs à cases avec renouvellement d'air uniquement. L'important dans ce procédé, c'est que pendant une phase ultérieure du séchage, le bois et soumis à des périodes de fort séchage et qu'entre ces périodes, le séchage est moins poussé et le renouvellement de l'air moindre.
