A method of controlling fuel delivery in an internal combustion engine (10) includes enabling split injection status without subjection to a temperature comparison while the engine (12) operates in the start mode, and enabling split injection status without subjection to a time limit while the engine (12) operates in the idle normal mode, but with subjection to the temperature comparison in the idle normal mode. In the method, a temperature threshold is established, an engine (12) operating temperature is monitored, the engine (12) operating temperature is compared to the temperature threshold. Further, the engine (12) is operated in the start mode, and at that time, the split injection status is enabled without subjection to the temperature comparison. Thereafter, the engine (12) is operated in the idle normal mode, and at that time, the split injection status is enabled without subjection to a time limit while the engine (12) operates in the idle normal mode and the engine (12) operating temperature falls below the temperature threshold to enhance cold temperature operation. Otherwise, when the operating temperature exceeds the temperature threshold during idle normal mode, the split injection status is disabled.

L'invention comprend un procédé de commande de débit de carburant dans un moteur à combustion interne (10) permettant un état d'injection en deux temps sans application d'une comparaison de température lorsque le moteur (12) fonctionne en mode démarrage, et sans application d'une limite de temps lorsque le moteur (12) fonctionne au ralenti. Dans ce procédé, une température seuil est établie, une température de fonctionnement du moteur (12) est régulée, la température de fonctionnement du moteur (12) est comparée à la température seuil. Le moteur (12) est activé en mode démarrage, et à ce moment-là, l'état d'injection en deux temps est activé sans application de la comparaison de température. Par la suite, le moteur (12) fonctionne au ralenti et la température de fonctionnement descend au-dessous de la température seuil afin d'améliorer le fonctionnement à basse température. Par ailleurs, lorsque la température de fonctionnement dépasse la température seuil au ralenti, l'état d'injection en deux temps est interrompu.
