A method for enhancing retention during the manufacture of paper, cardboard or the like, wherein a first retention agent consisting of a high-molecular weight cationic polymer is added to the fibrous suspension, the resulting flocs are optionally sheared, and finally a second, inorganic retention agent is added to the suspension. Said second retention agent is a kaolin pigment.

Procédé pour améliorer la rétention lors de la fabrication du papier, carton ou analogue, qui consiste: tout d'abord, à ajouter à la suspension fibreuse un premier agent de rétention formé par un polymère cationique de haut poids moléculaire; puis, éventuellement à cisailler les flocs obtenus; et enfin, à ajouter à la suspension un second agent de rétention de caractère minéral, caractérisé en ce que le second agent de rétention est un pigment de kaolin.
