ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a method for establishing a telephone connection between a stationary subscriber connected to a telephone system and a mobile sub- scriber equipped with a radio receiver. This is accomplished in that the stationary subscriber dials a call center connected with the telephone system giving the number of the mobile sub- scriber he wants to reach, that this subscriber number is trans- mitted by the call center to a radio ground station from which it is transmitted to a satellite, that the satellite broadcasts the subscriber number back to the earth via a beam which covers a large area, i.e. the entire region serviced by the system, and that the radio receiver of the desired mobile subscriber, after receiving his own subscriber number, signals the subscriber to call the stationary subscriber over the telephone system. The use of a satellite makes it unnecessary to divide the entire region into a plurality of radio traffic regions since the satellite is able to broadcast the signal for the mobile subscriber over a very large area on the earth covering the entire region. Since only one radio traffic region exists, fewer radio frequency bands are required, since otherwise each one of the many radio traffic regions would have to have its own associated frequency band.
