The present invention relates to a method for estimating precipitation characteristics, in particular the precipitating rate for a solid precipitation, which comprises a step of acquiring a radar image, including at least one vertical plane of a precipitation area and a vertical profile processing to provide digital signals representative of the reflectivity in the vertical direction z. Said method is characterised in comprising a step of integrating said signals, representative of reflectivity, to deliver a signal representative of the profile of the particle mean diameter in the vertical plane, weighted by the mass of each particle and a step of determining solid particle concentration from the signals calculated in the previous steps.
La présente invention concerne un procédé pour l'estimation des caractéristiques d'une précipitation, et en particulier du taux précipitant pour une précipitation solide comportant une étape d'acquisition d'une image radar comportant au moins un plan vertical d'une zone de précipitation et d'un traitement d'un profil vertical pour fournir des signaux numériques représentatifs de la réflectivité selon la direction verticale z caractérisé en ce que l'on réalise une étape d'intégration desdits signaux représentatifs de la réflectivité pour délivrer un signal représentatif du profil dans le plan vertical du diamètre moyen des particules pondéré par la masse de chaque particule, et une étape de détermination de la concentration des particules solides à partir des signaux calculés dans les étapes précédentes.
