The present invention facilitates the recovery of desirable chemicals from a raw material that is formed in substantial amounts during the production of cellulose pulp from renewable lignocellulose material. Recovery of the chemicals comprises two steps. The method starts with acidification of the raw material, that is, an ammonia/ammonium-containing methanol/water mixture (4) with an acid (5) that has the ability to form ammonium salt with the ammonium, and the mixture is allowed to circulate (1, 8, 9, 2) and thereby pass through an apparatus comprising an indirect heat exchanger (2), combined with an storage volume (1) fitted with a gas collection device (3), wherein heating in the range of 70- 105°C results in that methanol and volatile sulphur-containing substances are expelled in gas form (6) and transferred to a condenser (18) where the methanol condenses while the volatile sulphur- containing substances remain in gas form, whereafter the liquid phase (19) and the gas phase (16) are separately removed from the condenser (18), at the same time that a part of the said circulating ammonium salt containing mixture is removed from a position (10) where the water content in the mixture has been increased by at least 2-5 fold. The liquid form methanol (19) withdrawn is further purified in a second step (20).

La présente invention vise à faciliter la récupération des produits chimiques souhaitables dans un matériau brut formé, en quantité substantielle, au cours de la production de pâte de cellulose à partir d'un matériau lignocellulosique renouvelable. La récupération des produits chimiques comporte deux étapes. Le procédé commence par l'acidification du matériau brut, soit un mélange méthanol/eau contenant de l'ammoniaque/ammonium (4) avec un acide (5) possédant la capacité de former un sel d'ammonium avec l'ammonium, le mélange étant ensuite autorisé à circuler (1, 8, 9, 2) et ainsi à traverser un appareil comportant un échangeur de chaleur indirect (2) combiné à un volume de stockage (1) muni d'un dispositif de collecte des gaz (3), une chaleur comprise dans une plage allant de 70 °C à 105 °C étant appliquée, entraînant l'expulsion sous forme gazeuse (6) du méthanol et des substances volatiles contenant du soufre, puis le transfert desdits méthanol et substances contenant du soufre vers un condensateur (18) dans lequel le méthanol est condensé tandis que les substances volatiles contenant du soufre conservent leur forme gazeuse, les phases liquide (19) et gazeuse (16) étant ensuite séparément retirées du condensateur (18), au moment même où une partie dudit mélange circulant contenant le sel d'ammonium quitte une position (10) dans laquelle sa teneur en eau a été augmentée de 2 à 5 fois au moins. Le méthanol sous forme liquide (19) extrait est ensuite purifié au cours d'une seconde étape (20).
