IMPROVED METHOD FOR EXTRACTING OZONE-TREATED FIBROUS MATERIALS Abstract An improved method for extracting ozone-treated fibrous materials, particularly lignocellulosic pulps, where the ozone treatment had a starting pH of less than about 5. The process is characterized by a pH between about 6 and 9, a temperature between about 20°C and 60°C and a duration of pulp contact between 1 and 90 minutes. The improved method comprises adjusting the pH of a fiber slurry to between about 6 and 9; maintaining the temperature of the slurry between about 20°C and 60°C; and continuing the pulp-slurry contact for between about 1 and 90 minutes.
