The method for producing microparticles is characte- rized in that it comprises the following steps: prepa- ration of an emulsion of a solution of a substance or a mixture of substances in a dispersing liquid wherein said substance or said mixture are substantially insoluble; incorporating to said dispersed phase a chemical agent substantially insoluble in the disper- sing liquid so as to cause within the dispersed phase a chemical or physicochemical reaction responsible for the formation of microparticules which are then isola- ted.
