A B S T R A C T A method for generating a compound curved surface, capable of rapidly generating the compound curved surface with a high degree of accuracy. When data representative of reference curves (BC11, BC12, BC21, BC22) and operation curves (DC11, DC12, DC21, DC22), which specify first and second curved surfaces (SS1, SS2) constituting a compound curved surface (SS), is inputted through a keyboard after input of a part program, a processor 102 divides, by cut pitches (b1, b2), intermediate section curves (M) and operation curves which are respectively obtained by dividing reference curves associated with these surfaces by cut pitches (a1, a2) specified in the part program, calculates coordinate positions (PT'(x, y, z)) of four vertexes of each of a number of quadrilateral minute planes (PT) which constitute each curved surface, and causes the results of calculation, i.e., mesh data representative of each curved surface, to be stored in a memory, whereby the compound curve surface consisting of the two mesh data is generated.
