Genetic modification of a plant cell is achieved. A plant gene comprising a plant promoter and a plant structural gene is inserted into T-DNA, thereby forming a T-DNA/plant gene combination. The plant promoter is adjacent the 5'-end of the plant structural gene and the plant structural gene is downstream from the plant promoter in the direction of transcription. The T-DNA/plant gene combination is transferred into a plant cell for expression of the plant structural gene.
